Silent Night

(Played in G tuning)

MB: "This arrangement with the lone guitar

Was surely plucked from a heart

  Filled with gratitude and awe

(like Franz Gruber in 1818)

While contemplating the miracle of

Mary and Joseph and baby Jesus.

And God's redemptive plan,

His saving Grace.

Ponder the lyrics written in 1816 by

 Joseph Mohr.

We know the words by heart.

This powerful message of

 Heavenly Peace

Has crossed all borders and language barriers,

Stirring hearts of folks around the world

For 189 years!

Once again, here in 2007,

We listen as Jim plays the most treasured

Christmas Carol

 In the whole wide world!

 And the song lives on.

 Shhh... LISTEN........."

I made a profession of faith in a little Baptist church when I was 12 years old  and I understood the basics but it was almost 12 years later when it finally sunk in or the light came on! I was sitting alone in a motel room one night just before Christmas in a little old town over in Arkansas when I decided to read the Christmas story in Luke from the Gideon Bible all those rooms had back then. I can't explain it but it all became vividly real to me while I was reading and I cried and cried at the beauty, the grace, the wonder of it all. Never been the same since and have always loved that part of Scripture. Silent Night has ever since been my favorite song, as to me it captures the essence of that night better than any song ever written.
